“CEOs Of 2 Major NJ Employers Dump Trump”
By: Tom Davis (Patch Staff) – Updated August 16, 2017 2:39 pm ET
“The heads of two major New Jersey employers have become the latest to disassociate themselves from President Donald Trump amid the backlash to his response to the Charlottesville, Virginia, violence.
Just hours after reaffirming her commitment to stay on Trump’s Manufacturing Jobs Initiative Council, Camden-based Campbell Soup CEO Denise Morrison announced she was stepping down from the advisory group. CEO Alex Gorsky of New Brunswick-based Johnson and Johnson soon followed, saying he was stepping down.
Just before Trump’s tweet, Morrison said racism and murder “are unequivocally reprehensible and are not morally equivalent to anything else that happened in Charlottesville.”
Merillion to Morrison: (Huh? I’m not even sure what this sentence means!)
“Morrison was referring to Trump’s statements on Saturday and Tuesday in which he said “many sides” are to blame for the violence between the KKK and Neo-Nazis and the counter-protesters, and he seemed to legitimize white supremacists when he said there are ‘many fine people’ on both sides.”
Merillion to Morrison: Don’t you think maybe that poor young woman who was run over and killed might have been one of the “many fine people”?
“I believe the president should have been – and still needs to be – unambiguous on that point,” Morrison said. “Following yesterday’s remarks from the president, I cannot remain on the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative. I will continue to support all efforts to spur economic growth and advocate for the values that have always made America great.” (M: blah, blah, blah.)
Merillion to Morrison: What about your values, honey? Your actions are typical, just to punish Trump for being Trump. President Trump had nothing to do with this murder on wheels or with this whole “demonstration.” Why aren’t you against: the driver of the car, and whoever wielded clubs & guns and hurt other people; the Governor, who told the cops to just stand there while people were being beaten. The Vice Governor and the Mayor of Charlottesville, who agreed totally with the governor. Three corrupt officials, all anti-Trump, who shouldn’t be in any public office: America’s enemies. Typical of Marxist Socialist Liberals.
And you, my readers: There are lots of fine products out there. Let’s buy them instead of Campbells.
