Seattle, Portland, & the Republicans

I received an Email from Sen. Tom Cotton:

FROM: Sen. Tom Cotton

Mon, Aug 24, 2020 2:35 pm

“Do you have a second to talk about the future of law and order in America?

“My name is Tom Cotton. I fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, I’m a Senator from Arkansas, and I know that you don’t normally see my name in your inbox, but I need your help right now. {a donation}

What we’re seeing going on around the country is downright horrifying – and it seems like it gets worse every time I look at the news.

“Police officers are in the crosshairs of lawless criminals.

Federal courts are under siege.

Law and order is being dismantled by the radical left.”

************************************************************************

“. . .every time you look at the news”?   We all can just look at the news.  You are a US Senator.  Your job is to fight for US.  WE PAY YOU GUYS!  WE PAY YOU!  YOU ALL JUST SIT THERE AND ASK FOR MONEY.

For a very long time now, Republicans have been disconnected from what’s going on around them. How has this happened?

Why aren’t you doing anything about the cities being attacked?? All you can say is “IT’S HORRIFYING!

DO SOMETHING!!  EARN YOUR SALARIES.

n.b. Merillion: Please guys, my readers, I need to know you care.

The only comments I ever get are from my sister, and very astute comments they are! Please take a couple of minutes to leave me a comment.

WORDS OF WISDOM

ANY CHARACTER HERE

Wisdom, and a sense of humor – this was Ronald Reagan:

ANY CHARACTER HERE

“The most terrifying words in the English language are:  I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

“The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant:  it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”

“Of the four wars in my lifetime none came about because the U.S. was too strong.”

“I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress.”

“The taxpayer:  that’s someone who works for the federal government but doesn’t have to take the civil service examination.”

“Government is like a baby:  an alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.”

“If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”

“I’ve laid down the law to everyone from now on about anything that happens:  no matter what time it is, wake me, even if it’s in the middle of a Cabinet meeting.”

“It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.”

“Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases:  if it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.”

“Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards; if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book.”

“No arsenal, or weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.”

“No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.  Government programs, once launched, never disappear.  Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.”

“Government always finds a need for whatever money it gets.”

“We don’t have a trillion-dollar debt because we haven’t taxed enough; we have a trillion-dollar debt because we spend too much”
