Afghanistan – Get our people back to America!

Re:  Americans trapped in Afghanistan

Couldn’t we find out where our people are located in Afghanistan by using our Passport system?  One thing you must have when traveling in other countries is a Passport.
Passport Services maintains U.S. passport records from March 1925 to the present. Records are protected by the Privacy Act of 1974. Records may include:
  • Passport Applications
The following is just to indicate that a Passport can be of great help when trying to locate someone:
Examples of Primary Citizenship Evidence – (what you need in order to get a passport)
  • Fully-valid, undamaged U.S. passport (can be expired)
  • U.S. birth certificate that meets the following requirements:
    • Issued by the city, county, or state of birth
    • Lists applicant’s full name, date of birth, and place of birth
    • Lists parent(s)’ full names  (the parents should know where in Afghanistan their family members are).
    • Has the signature of the city, county, or state registrar
    • Has the date filed with registrar’s office (must be within one year of birth)
    • Has the seal of issuing authority
